Stitch Fix Review for Fall 2017

Today I’m sharing my Stitch Fix Review for Fall 2017: I kept the whole box! For this box, which I received at the beginning of the month, I asked for items that either had pockets or I could layer in anticipation of a transition of cold mornings and warm afternoons for Portland weather. Here’s a look at my box!

I am not sponsored or paid in anyway to share this box: I just really enjoy how the service provides me great clothing statement pieces that I always get compliments on and are unique instead of what everyone can find at the same stores locally.

Portland Center Stage Fun Home

Portland Center Stage is celebrating it’s 30th anniversary this season! Congratulation! The first productions for this new season are Fun Home running September 16 – October 22 on the US Bank Main Stage and in the downstairs intimate Ellen Bye Theater will be Every Brilliant Thing, running September 23 – November 5, 2017. Both plays have moments of comedy and joy, but also have a dark lining: suicide and depression, the gap between the face one wears to the world and the mental well being inside. On stage and in the audience, you will be laughing and crying together.

Feast Portland 2017 Bon Appétit Hot Ten Dinner

Bon Appétit’s Best New Restaurants dinner returns every year at Feast Portland featuring some of the nation’s hottest chefs, as chosen by Deputy Editor Andrew Knowlton and published in the America’s Best New Restaurants 2017 issue in September.

Hosted by Knowlton and Bon Appétit’s Editor in Chief, Adam Rapoport, and also with Food Director Carla Lalli Music in attendance, the Feast Portland 2017 Bon Appétit Hot Ten Dinner took place in the outdoor space just outside Kitchencru, as it does every year. This is usually the first Feast PDX event to sell out (often in just minutes), even though we still won’t know for several months what and who placed at #1. As we discovered in September, that #1 spot went to The Turkey and The Wolf. And that’s who we started out with for the Feast Portland 2017 Bon Appétit Hot Ten Dinner. Here’s my photo recap!

My Highlights of Feast Portland 2017

Last week, from Thursday September 14 to Sunday the 17th, was the incredible food festival Feast Portland in Portland that benefits this year’s charitable partner, Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon. Over it’s 6 year run since 2012, Feast PDX has raised over $300,000 to help end childhood hunger in Oregon and across the country, not counting the 2017 contribution which is still being tallied. Besides benefiting such an important cause, Feast offers more then food and drink – it brings together food and drink makers and those who enjoy food and drink into a celebratory community.

Harvest Dinner with Tepuy at Hazelfern Cellars

This past Saturday, I was fortunate enough to attend the Harvest Dinner with Tepuy at Hazelfern Cellars. Tepuy Dining is named for a famous flat topped mountain in the Amazonian Jungle, and is a Venezuelan inspired Traveling Pop Up led by female chef Adriana Urbina (Food Network 2017 Chopped Champion). Tepuy was featured as one of “the best Venezuelan places to eat in NYC” in 2015 by Eater New York times. I was really intrigued about the idea of pairing Venezuelan flavors with Northwest ingredients and Hazelfern Cellars wine.

If you haven’t heard of Hazelfern Cellars before, they are a relatively new entry into the Oregon wine scene. Based in Newberg, Oregon, this family owned vineyard officially started making its small lot wines in 2014, growing from the original 5 gallons of Pinot Noir and a Portland basement has grown to over 500 cases of wine. One of the things that really stands out about Hazelfern is that head of the family and winemaker Bryan Laing is a huge food lover as well, and is really in tune with balancing flavors and textures in wine just like balancing flavors and textures in food.
