September Stitch Fix Box

Here’s a look at what was in my 2016 September Stitch Fix box. I’ve been sharing what’s been in my Stitch Fix boxes for a while now: starting with a March 2015 Stitch Fix review and a Recap of 14 previous Stitch Fix boxes, then August 2015December 2015March 2016 and then May 2016. So you can see I pretty much order them a few times a year: you get to set the frequency and if you have a special need (like the May one I was looking for things for my sister’s baby shower).

If you haven’t heard of Stitch Fix before, Stitch Fix is a monthly styling subscription service personalized for you. You go online and they ask you questions, including showing you images of various outfits, to get an information on your size as well as your preferences in style and price points. You can even put together a Pinterest board of outfit  inspirations. Then, based on all that, a stylist will pick out 5 pieces to ship to you that are mailed to your home for your consideration.

In fact, two of the items I got in my September Stitch Fix box actually came items I pinned from other Stitch Fixers! The reason I think my Stitch Fix boxes are successful is that I am always looking at pins from other boxes (and is part of my motivation for sharing this post myself to give back) and make sure to always give feedback on everything I got in a box, both those I keep and those I send back.

All right, onto the clothes!

Skies Are Blue Kendruh Layered Hem Knit Top

Although the color was lovely and I even have matching jewelry exactly in this color that I’ve been looking to wear more, ultimately I decided not to keep this top. It was too simple to justify the price, and I didn’t like how the layered detail brought attention to my hip area. It would be a great fall piece though for those who are not as self-conscious as me about that spot.

Brixon Ivy Elmar Embroidered Cutout Blouse

The way this is cut is loose but but not boxy, and the color is great. The detail that is outstanding of course is the cutout in the arm sleeves that hint at a bit of skin while still being covered up. This was also pinned on my Pinterest inspiration board for my stylist so thrilled she found one for me. I kept the blouse and think it’s a classic I can wear for many many years, even when I’m old and wrinkly and wearing this with pearls and trousers with an elastic waist at a charity auction event and passed canapes. Maybe that’s a quite specific future vision of future golden years…

Pixley Ellie Printed 3/4 Sleeve Blouse

September Stitch Fix Box, Pixley Ellie Printed 3/4 Sleeve Blouse
This was a keeper for me because it is just long enough that I can wear this with leggings, and the elephant print you see is super cute with that elephant pattern. I wondered if it was a bit too on the nose since my ethnic background is Thai and Thai elephants are very important culturally, even functioning as a symbol of Thailand. At my wedding we had elephant placeholders for the table names/numbers, and which I still have now to use sometimes in labeling food at potlucks or buffets at my home. Looking at the elephant with rosy cheek and smiling eyes though I couldn’t say no.

Daniel Rainn Poppins Crochet Trim Blouse

I was soooo close to keeping this blouse. The cut is really cute, and the bit of trim at the sleeveless cutout for the arm is unique. Ultimately though I would end up putting a cardigan over this at work or in the fall/winter, which makes it just like any other dotted blouse I own already. If this had been in a box at the beginning of the summer I might have been able to justify the price with how many times I’d wear it, but at this time of year I think the best part would end up being hidden, so I decided against the purchase.

Donna Morgan Marlow Jersey Shirt Dress

This dress was my favorite of the box – I already have this aesthetic of liking blue and white, as you can even see from my bedsheets! So as you can guess, I kept this. The stylist saw this was pinned to my Pinterest board and delivered knowing I had my eye on it.

  1. You know, I think the layered hem knit top looks longer in the pictures provided by StitchFix. I think it would be hard to make that top flattering on most people at the length it hits. I love all the other pieces you kept – Super cute!

  2. I could totally see that dress on you! And the 3/4 sleeve blouse. Both are adorable. I love the first top too but can definitely understand not keeping it for the price (I thought the same of a few items I was sent via Stitch Fix before). Perhaps I’ll see you in the dress or blouse at Feast soon??! 🙂

  3. I love those print blouses, and the cutout sleeves!!

  4. I haven’t tried Stitch Fix yet, but I definitely plan to in the future! I feel totally lost when clothes shopping for myself that I just pick mostly solid dark colors. I want to add a little color and spice to my wardrobe so having a professional stylist pick things out based on my taste is hugely appealing.

  5. Hi! On the cute blue dress from stitch fix (which I also got and loved) do you think it needs a slip under it?
