There are always lines for the Broder restaurants at brunch on the weekend for their unique Swedish cuisine – but I’ve never experienced them. That’s because though I love Broder, I go on the weekdays because they offer brunch everyday 8 AM – 3 PM, not just on weekends! For an example of my favoriter Broder dishes, here’s a look at my brunch at Broder Nord.
I think this Broder Nord location has the easier parking and is a very short walk from the Yellow line Max, and I think not everyone thinks of it instead of the original Broder Clinton location. But I’m sharing it with you! The other location, and their largest is the Broder Söder location but it is farther outside the city – which may be perfect for you if you’re out in Beaverton or Tigard area. Here’s a glimpse of the Broder Nord interior.
So here is how we filled our table for our Brunch at Broder Nord – ha ha it was just me and my mom. During brunch I kept my eye outside to see when the clouds would burn off, and just as we were finishing the sun came out! I took my mom over the Fremont Bridge as we dropped off our leftovers at home and then headed next to the Adelman Peony Farms that I shared a few blogposts ago.
- Lefse, a Norwegian potato crepe filled with rotating ingredients (mine was Havarti and salami) topped with baked eggs and served with mixed greens;
- Æbleskivers (Danish Pancakes) served with lingonbarry jam and lemon curd;
- Smørrebrød, Danish Open Faced Sandwiches where you can choose two of five options, we picked the Gravlax with shrimp skagenröra, radish, mustard sauce, microgreens and the Beet and Asparagus with asparagus, beets, and chevre;
- Förlorade ägg (Lost Eggs) a dish of 2 eggs on a bed of sliced ham and spinach baked under breadcrumbs in a skillet
Have you ever been to the Broder locations, what did you think, what was the dish you enjoyed? Have you ever heard of a Swedish brunch, or these dishes?
I just love the aesthetic of Broder – I basically would like to live there.
Weekday brunch is a fantastic solution to Portland’s ridiculous brunch lines! Great idea, lady.
I’ve been to Broder Soder and to Broder Ost (in Hood River), and love how the food is consistently great at both locations. Haven’t been to Broder Nord yet but love how it looks!
What a cool looking place! I’ve never been. I think I need to get a babysitter to start going to brunch joints!!
IF you do a weekday brunch, you can take the kids with because it isn’t crazy like a weekend one!
