You can enjoy getting into the Christmas spirit at the Miracle, a Christmas cocktail pop up bar. This international pop up has landed in Portland inside the Bacchus Bar in the lobby of the Kimpton Hotel Vintage Portland downtown this year. Here’s a look as we head into the final stretch to Christmas Day and New Year’s Day!
That’s right – even after Christmas you can still get into the spirit for another week because they are keeping it going for New Year’s Eve. In fact, they are offering discounts on signature Miracle cocktails and glassware for anyone who’s dropping in for New Year’s Eve. Or spend $60 to get a wristband that grants access to a select open bar from 10pm to 1am, passed appetizers, a sparkling toast at midnight, and game lounge activities – see the Eventbrite ticket for more details.
The game lounge upstairs is surprisingly missed by many a visitor just because it is up those spiral stairs, often sadly undiscovered until it’s time to go to the restroom (which are also up here). I like the first floor too for great people watching of people coming and going from the hotel, but upstairs is free pool, shuffleboard, and big TVs for the sports game. The only minus is when you need a refill or food going back down to the bar to order at the bar.
Here’s the selection of libations which includes many different kinds from warm to hot, sweet to bitter to sour to accommodate anybody’s drink preference. You can also check out the Miracle Bar pop up food menu here.
The beverages come in glassware to help you get into the spirit even before your first sip – here are examples such as the
- SanTaRex with Rye Whiskey, Oloroso Sherry, Spiced Apple Cider Concentrate, Lemon Juice, Hard Cider, Baked Apple Bitters
- Bad Santa (served hot) with Rum, Batavia Arrack, Black Chai Tea, Date-Infused Oat Milk, Vanilla Syrup
- Jingle Balls Nog with Brown Butter and Cinnamon Fat-Washed Cognac, Amontillado Sherry, Almond Milk, Cream, Sugar, Egg, Vanilla, Nutmeg
One of the things I like about Bacchus Bar even when not decorated with the holiday stuff is that it is great for groups – there are lot of cushy seats and different areas to gather, from the bar top to the front window to the couches by the check in desks or areas under the 2nd floor/behind the stairs – check out a virtual tour here to see how accommodating the space is. You will also find live music here Wednesday-Saturdays. They open at 4 PM every day.
Here are a few other details to get you in the mood – and from me to you, Merry Christmas!
