Summer Stitch Fix

I received my Summer Stitch Fix box, which is my clothing subscription. I now tend to get once every 4-6 months – you get to schedule them at the interval you want for a box of 5 articles of clothing (and/or accessories or shoes or jewelry) picked out for for men, women (including maternity or plus sized) or kids that sends clothing to your door based on your style feedback and with free shipping & returns.

Now I’ll be honest upfront, this is one box where I only kept one item, and sent the rest back. First, it wasn’t really that summer appropriate since 3 of the 5 pieces had longer sleeves (though one was a cold shoulder look) and with temperatures mostly above the 90s, and probably a couple months more of such weather ahead, I didn’t feel any any of these were must haves for me. Anyway, you win some you lose some – at least it was still conveniently sent to my home for me to try on when I had time and with other items I have, and I provided feedback for each piece to help with future stylists matching me up.

So here are the five articles of clothing I had. I only kept the last one.

Cosmic Blue Love Quinn Distressed Frayed Hem Shorts
These shorts are cute, but just too short for me! I’m not really a shorts person anyway- I prefer wearing lots of sundresses. I tend to prefer clothes I can wear to work and out for fun, and jean shorts that are distressed don’t fit into that category either.

Luq Jefte Cold Shoulder Tie Front Top

The fit was really boxy and a bit short on me where I would be showing some skin between my top and jeans, which I did not like as that’s just not my style. It also has a pretty big cut for the shoulder, and around the neckline/chest area. The pattern also wasn’t for me, though I did like the colors, and I do like the cold shoulder look in general. But, add up the amount skin showing and this would never be something I would wear to work and then out – only casually on the weekend. So I passed on this top.

Market & Spruce Camren Bow-Back Knit Top

The bow on the back is cute, but since I have long hair that I always wear down, it would always be obscured, and otherwise didn’t have any details that made this top stand out. It did feel soft and comfortable, but just didn’t offer enough in my eyes to justify the price and adding it to my wardrobe. The view below is from the front and then the back. It is a classic piece that would be cute on anyone else with shorter hair or who wears their hair up though! The stylist suggested putting this over black pants or skinny jeans, which I totally agreed with (and was one of the “looks” I had told her I wear a lot – tunics over black pants) so I did appreciate that she tried to pick this out for me.

Lux & Co Brenda Tshirt Knit Dress

The dress was a little too see through for my taste, and boxy on me. I didn’t think it justified the price for me, so returned this as well. The pattern is really cute though – it just didn’t work well with my body. And, this dress has pockets too, something I had also requested for dresses they sent me, so I also appreciated that they heard me on that detail, even if the fit itself didn’t work.

Market & Spruce Fraya Knit Romper

This is the only piece I kept. I don’t own a single jumper, and this felt so comfortable and slinky, and I do like blue and the pattern here also. The long sleeves means you may not see it until September though.

This was all based on my personal taste, of course. I also think I’ve gotten a lot pickier with clothes because I’ve run out of hangers and so I probably need to do a purge at one point, but just haven’t yet, but it’s making me more reluctant to get more clothes because of it!

What do you think of the pieces, would you have kept some of them? Where do you like to get your clothes?

  1. Stitch Fix is totally made for me: A person who doesn’t like to shop and doesn’t have a lot of time. I’ve never used it, though, because my sister is basically my Stitch Fix. In fact she just sent me a box of clothes that no longer work for her. So a few times a year my wardrobe gets an infusion from her! Haha

  2. That romper is totally cute!! I think I may have kept the shorts but it would depend on how short they were on me. I’m with you on the rest.
