Then off to the Portland Farmers Market at PSU, at the South Park Blocks between SW Hall & SW Montgomery, running 8:30 AM. – 2 PM until it switches to 9 AM in November. Look at those giant cabbages!

I’ve been particularly smitten with the Portland Farmers Market at PSU because for the past/next few weeks, Westwind Gardens from Forest Grove have been roasting peppers right there at the market, and the aroma is incredible. You can buy the roasted peppers in various heat levels in all the varieties you know and maybe want to be introduced to, still warm in the ziploc bags, which I take home and just plop right on plain rice and enjoy! They have a wonderful variety of peppers as well!

Ippai PDX at the Hollywood Farmers Market

Maybe these photos might encourage you to visit the Hollywood Farmers Market. Besides it being less crazy crowded and easier to find parking I think then the Portland Farmers Market at PSU, they also have one unique offering:  Ippai PDX. This little pop-up is a regular stop for me. I love their variations of onigiri.

Tuna Salad with Corn Onigiri

If you want more than a snack, try their rice bowls- either hot (with warm curry on top) or cold (with various veggies). I added an egg for an extra dollar, so worth it.

You should definitely visit their website- besides popping up at the market, they also have pop-up dinners once in a while!

Can you tell that it just maybe, maybe it is tomato season and berry season in Oregon? It’s been very hot and dry this summer which is a little hard on the humans but has been wonderful for the tomatoes. Here’s a look at what I found at the Hollywood Farmers Market.

I have a confession. I am a farmers market addict.

Even when I travel and am staying in a hotel and have no kitchen, maybe not even a fridge, I check to see if there is a farmers market to visit. I’ve been to Farmers Markets in upstate New York and in Manhattan, in Vermont, in Arizona, Boston, Chicago, California, in Washington the state and Washington DC the district.

On Saturdays, I have been going to TWO farmers markets- both the Hollywood Farmers Market to wander before my workout class, and then right after the workout class to the PSU Portland Farmers Market. I just love browsing, looking at all the beautiful goods from the farmers, and then maybe also looking at all the people there too.

Here are a few of the photos I couldn’t help but take just to capture the wonderful bounty of things I was seeing. You’ll probably see these posts once in a while where I just am showing off how wonderful these farmers markets are!

Available at both markets: Gabriel’s Bakery and that freaking addictive cheese croissant they have (you can see it in the left back), among other baked goods. I don’t even have to say anything at the PSU Farmers Market, she just starts reaching for them and it’s only a matter of how many I want to buy this time…
