Ecliptic Brewery’s Food

Ecliptic Brewery‘s is one of my top recommendations for where to have great beer and food in Portland along with my other top picks like La Moule, Higgins (which I’ve highlighted before in a blog post), Saraveza (which I’ve written about before), and Ex Novo. When founding Ecliptic, experienced brewer John Harris specifically wanted to make sure that the food he served wasn’t just around because it’s the law to have food available – he wanted to make sure it matched well with the beer to provide good complimentary and contrasting flavors. The menu of beer and food proves that with its variety of beer available and food available. Everything I’ve had at Ecliptic has always been good, which makes me confident in recommending Ecliptic Brewery’s Food and Beer as among my top 5 in Portland. In particular, they have the best selection of food options if you are vegetarian.

If you are not vegetarian, the Ecliptic Burger is also a good choice – it was the winner for the Best Brewery Burger this year in the Best Portland Burger bracket that Willamette Weekly had this year, beating 15 other brewery burgers and making the cut for the Final Four best burgers in Portland. You can read descriptions of people’s reactions in the first brewery burger bracket, then the second round, and third round. The Ecliptic Burger here is 1/2 pound of beef, pancetta, red onion, aged gruyere, russian dressing, potato bun . In addition every Tuesday they always feature a special burger and beer combo.

For dessert save room for their Porter Float or Fried Ice Cream!

The beers overall at Ecliptic are solid, and run the gamut to satisfy all tastes, varying from your Northwest IPA to hazy IPA or Porters or your sessionable ales and sour beer.  Like many other beer bars and breweries they offer cider and wine if you’re not a beer fan, but they also go the extra mile to offer a full bar for cocktails as well, including their own list of almost a dozen special cocktails.

You can bring anyone here, whatever the taste or diet preference, family friendly and dog friendly outside on their patio. Their patio is part of their parking lot and so you won’t be at tables on the sidewalk getting bumped by pedestrians or directly smelling car exhaust. All positives!

Have you been to Ecliptic Brewery before or had their beers?

  1. I’ve been to Ecliptic twice now and agree – I think their food is great and I love their beer too!

  2. I’ve never been there but it sounds great! It can sometimes be hard to find good veggie burgers at restaurants but that one looks delicious!

  3. I feel the same way about Ecliptic! Such great food and beer, and I love sitting outside on nice days.

  4. I always appreciate when pubs are thoughtful about their vegetarian options, and it sounds like Ecliptic has hit the bull’s eye with the farro burger. Sounds delish!
