The House We Rent

Here is a link to the apartment when it was empty and F scoped it out for me with the manager who is renting it to us on behalf of the owners. I have no idea what to do with the mirrored room- I guess it's just storage (they took the work out equipment with them). There is also no furniture in the dining room but a wine rack.

When I got home for the first time, I was surprised at how much bigger it is than the photos. I got to inspect it wall to wall thanks to Mew exploring the house as soon as he got out of the bag. I had planned to put him right into the litterbox, but  Lobo had destroyed it so F had to clean it out first. And of course, he got distracted showing me off the 2 new hermit crabs he got and the new crabitat digs in preparation for the two hermit crabs I next dair air-ed from Chicago last week, and then he had to find the scoop… suffice it to say we got home around 10:45 and by 11 Mew couldn't hold it anymore and couldn't find a litterbox, so he went where he thought was the closest thing: the deep tub in the master bathroom. I had been following and watching him the entire time and this was the end of the round trip from downstairs back upstairs, and I had turned around to stare at the huge mirrored wall in the bathroom when Mew started squatting.

Chaos ensued as I grabbed Mew when I thought no more poop would be coming out and ran to the 2nd bathroom where the current litterbox is, F scooped quickly and ferociously, Mew started growling in anger at being interrupted, Lobo came running in several times to either rubberneck, use the newly clean litterbox first, or check on Mew, etc. At least it was in a tub and not on the cream carpet throughout the house. F was mad at Mew for making a mess his first day in the apartment, but I can't really blame Mew though, he had been holding it since mid-afternoon in Chicago and Portland is 2 hours behind, so it had been 8 hours. F should have had the litterbox ready faster so we could have taken care of all that immediately.

The first 8 hours, whenever Lobo came near Mew, Mew would do a low deep growl/unhappy sound from the back of his throat. Lobo really wants to greet Mew by sniffing his butt too. On the other hand, Lobo hisses (sort of) at me whenever I got near him. At least we have a week to adjust to each other.

I keep hearing cars on the road and looking out to see if it is a UPS truck. Sadly, not yet. I've spent this whole morning on Facebook, and I guess next I'll go downstairs and start going through my 5 boxes of books. Now that I haven't seen some of those books for 9 months, I realize there are some of them that I would pick up and leaf through again and others that I wouldn't, so I want to separate the latter out to donate. Why move them again?

I also really wonder if I'm up to scrapbooking. I have always kept random things from events like movies, shows, trips… but they are all loose in a box rather then taped down in a scrapbook. When I realized that I was actually filling up a whole box, I decided I either need to start organizing these things sooner and more consistently or I should stop collecting junk, but I think I inherited the habit from my parents. I don't think I have the patience or artistic skill to make themed pages, but I would like to at least not have them loose anymore.
