Zero Proof Cocktails at Suckerpunch

Have you visited Portland’s first zero proof (no alcohol) cocktail bar Suckerpunch? Whether you are recovering, have those you care about who are, are mocktail curious, or choose for whatever reason to abstain from alcohol, this pop-up space offers the chic vibes of cocktail culture and care and craft of mixology and innovative drinks without the effects of booze.

A visit to Suckerpunch requires a prepaid reservation and nets you a flight of three complex creative content cocktails that will change based on seasonal inspiration, and bar snacks. This visit is from their first month open in February, but a patio is in the works for outdoor space in the spring.

OP Wurst Division

Memorial Day is almost here! Bring on the summer sunshine and backyard (or balcony) bbqs of burgers and hot dogs and picnics please! In between bbqs, you can also get your fix on for fun American food at OP Wurst, which now has 3 locations. I’ve visited and enjoyed a couple times the haute hot dogs of OP Wurst at Pine Street Market, but given how that indoor gourmet food court is the home of several mini restaurants, there is always a lot of hustle and bustle and it doesn’t seem like a place to sit down for a long spell with sausages and drinks. Now I do have a place to do both though – OP Wurst Sausage Bar on Division has opened and with the larger kitchen, offers more options then the Pine Street location, has a big outdoor patio, plus offers a full bar. Here’s a look!

Shipwreck PDX

I was able to attend Shipwreck PDX at their first pop up in March at Jacqueline, and they made my Eater PDX top pop up list. I plan to attend again at their next pop up in May 15 next from 5 PM to 2 AM at Taqueria Nueve, which is now additionally partnering with Rum Club while waiting for your table. It’s a strong sign how they are continually improving and actively making choices by learning from their experience in March.

I was invited to attend a media sneak preview, and here’s a look at some of the tastes I shared.

Quaintrelle

Spring is almost here… it’s been such so dreary and relentless with the rain so far. I keep reminding myself that the rain is what helps make the crops grow. Recently, I visited Quaintrelle, which focuses on Pacific Northwest cuisine with 80-85% of their food sourced locally and especially loves to show off the natural flavors when ingredients are so direct farm to table.

Quaintrelle is located in a little corner that may seem a little hidden from North Mississipi , but it also means when the weather improves they will be able to fill the patio portion in front between its doors and the streets with some great tables so you can dine al fresco and people-watch in this fun neighborhood.
Quaintrelle: A woman who emphasizes a life of passion expressed through personal style, leisurely pastimes, charm, and a cultivation of life's pleasures. Or a charming Pacific Northwest cuisine focused Portland restaurant that emphasizes 80-85% local ingredients.
