Stitch Fix Review for Fall 2017

Today I’m sharing my Stitch Fix Review for Fall 2017: I kept the whole box! For this box, which I received at the beginning of the month, I asked for items that either had pockets or I could layer in anticipation of a transition of cold mornings and warm afternoons for Portland weather. Here’s a look at my box!

I am not sponsored or paid in anyway to share this box: I just really enjoy how the service provides me great clothing statement pieces that I always get compliments on and are unique instead of what everyone can find at the same stores locally.

If you haven’t heard of Stitch Fix before, Stitch Fix is a styling subscription service personalized for you, and it comes at intervals you get to choose (you pick the date of your next box). I tend to get a box quarterly, but you can do it every 2 months or 6 months based on what is right for you. You can also include notes before the box is put together on what you would like, like I always do – such as stuff for layering, or stuff for an upcoming party or a vacation, etc.

You go online and they ask you questions and show you images for you to indicate  your preferences in style and price points. You can additionally put together a Pinterest board of outfit inspirations (part of the reason for writing this post is to post my clothes and give back to the community of Stitch Fixers who also post theirs).  Then, based on all that information you give, a stylist will pick out 5 pieces to ship to you that are mailed to your home for your consideration that come with cards with styling suggestions to make 2 outfits out of every piece.

You choose what you want to keep, and give feedback on why you liked or are returning the pieces you didn’t like so they can better improve knowing your style. A $20 styling fee is charged but deducted from the cost of the items you keep, and if you keep the whole box you get a significant discount – 25% off the cost of everything. Shipping is free both ways so I feel like the $20 fee is completely reasonable.

I’m going to start with my least favorite – this knit top. It’s a cute idea with the lace front and sleeves, and it is a style I like and fit me ok everywhere except the upper arms, which were tight. I still kept the shirt anyway because with the 25% discount of keeping the entire box, this shirt was essentially free. Maybe I’ll gift the shirt to someone with smaller arms during the holidays…

Liverpool Jacqueline Skinny Pant

I am always shocked how the stylists at Stitch Fix are able to find me pants that fit me perfectly when it’s so painful to go out to stores and try on pants. I already have a pair of jeans this color, but I dutifully tried them on like I do every piece in a Stitch Fix box. That’s how I noticed the way these are smoother and tuck everything in… that makes theses pants a keeper. The photo doesn’t quite do the color justice but I took these on the smokey days when the wildfire smoke was making the light quite hazy, oh well!

THML Elly Cold Shoulder Embroidered Dress

All summer I have been personally rocking (I think anyway) the off the shoulder look with tops and dresses, and for autumn I had just purchased 2 more dresses that continue the shoulder peek a boo but with long sleeves, so this was completely my style and somehow my Stitch Fix stylist knew it. This is one that as you can see below doesn’t really have much hanger appeal, but if you look at the photo above you will get a better idea of how it hangs on a person, and I’m including that hanger photo anyway because it best represents the cool pattern of the dress with multi-color feathers and the nice embroidery detail with the cornflower blue at the bottom. It’s going to be a popular dress for fall for me, I know it!

THML Marlayna Knit Dress

I’ve never heard of the brand THML, but apparently THML clothing is a style I like – they have simple pieces that have a earthy but sophisticated edge to them – something about it seems very Pacific Northwest but cooler (not hipster or too artsy) to me. Also, this dress is super soft like a T shirt and has pockets. The official photos make it look white, but it’s a bit more off white, which I like even better. Sold.

Current Air Maebeline Knit Cargo Vest

This Cargo Vest is one of the reasons I have been such a loyal Stitch Fix customer and like to promote them – I would have never ever picked this up on my own. I just don’t think about vests, I don’t know why. But this vest is soooo cool. It’s lightweight but warm and has so many pockets, so many! And it looks great layered over so many items I already own. I would have never thought to own something like this, but now thanks to Stitch Fix I’ve upgraded a style level.

  1. Love the pieces that you got in your Stitch Fix box Pech! How fun!

  2. Great pieces! I’m jealous you’ve had success with pants from them! I had to give up asking for pants when none would fit me right 🙁 For me it’s unfortunately one of those items I need to try on first 🙁
I think my favorite is that vest! Seems very versatile for Portland.

  3. I love all of these pieces and see why you kept them all! Your Stitch Fix posts give me hope again… I didn’t have good luck with them, but I’m inspired by your experiences with them! Those dresses look super cute on you, I bet!
